City of Columbia Finance Department is hiring an Economist. This is an opportunity to work for a progressive municipality, help provide economic analysis and forecasting of the City's strategic policy and financial planning. Develop, monitor and analyze legislative and local proposals in the areas of revenue, taxation, economic development, tax credits and related fiscal issues; prepare fiscal note responses, policy reviews and related analyses. Evaluate federal, economic and fiscal policy that affect the city, state and/or tax policy. Monitor and analyze various City budgets to identify potential financial problems and manage fiscal crises that may arise. Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance or closely related field required. Master's Degree in Economics preferred with a minimum of five years of experience in a public/municipal financial analysis or budgetary control role. *This is a new position pending City Council approval.
