    The University of Portland, a Catholic university founded in 1901 and overlooking the Willamette River and the city of Portland, invites nominations and applications for the position of Budget Director. Reporting to the Vice President of Financial Affairs, the Budget Director oversees, directs, leads, and implements budgeting functions for the University. This includes: oversight and facilitation of budget approvals and budget‐related requests across the University; management, forecasting, monitoring, analysis, and reporting related to budgets across the University; and development and maintenance of long and short term forecasting model(s) for capital and operating budgets, and general financial forecasts; and, as needed, engage in position control processes. The University's annual budget is approximately $200 million dollars.


    The ideal candidate will have compelling leadership qualities and relationship building skills. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and eight years progressively responsible experience, preferably in higher education. CPA preferred. Candidates must have: knowledge, skills, and abilities in the area of budgeting; demonstrated ability to apply financial and analytical skills based on a firm understanding of the mission, strategy, and operating principles of a school/unit; subject matter expertise related to budgeting, financial forecasting, and analytics; experience collaborating with various constituents across an organization; experience developing and clearly communicating institutional strategies and key measures of institutional success and accountability for both internal and external stakeholders; and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and experience maintaining the highest standards for integrity and personal and professional excellence.


    Led by Rev. Mark L. Poorman, president since 2014, the University of Portland is Oregon's only comprehensive university with schools of business, education, engineering, nursing, a College of Arts and Sciences, and a graduate school.
