    The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies, and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombudsmen to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

    Here's what you will do:

    As the Deputy Director for the Department of Consumer and Business Services, you will act with the full authority of the Director and in the Director's absence as agency head in leading the agency and carrying out agency functions and administration.

    Here's what you need to qualify:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Eight years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following:

    • Development of program rules and policies
    • Development of long- and short-range goals and plans
    • Program evaluation
    • Budget preparation

    Required Skills:

    • Extensive experience with state government systems including human resources and budget

    Requested Skills:

    • A confirmable track record of highly ethical and professional behavior
    • Proven track record of forward-looking organizational leadership
    • Demonstrated ability to be firm, fair, and unbiased in carrying out professional responsibilities
    • Expert experience communicating effectively, orally and in writing
    • Strong positive experience supervising, organizing, and motivating employees is required
    • Considerable knowledge and skill in planning and coordinating state agency services
    • Strong experience of state and federal laws and regulations; of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership techniques; of accounting, budgeting, and financial principles;
    • Experience with the principles and practices of public administration and management in state or local governments
