    TITLE:          Safety Officer-full time, competitive class
    Location:     Safety Office
    Salary:         $39,883 - $48,523/Yr.

    Minimum Qualifications: Either:

    1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate's degree or higher in construction technology, architecture, engineering technology or closely related field and two (2) years of experience as a building contractor, building inspector, construction supervisor, claims adjustor, insurance underwriter, code enforcement, manager or administrator of occupational safety and health program, or similar position responsible for inspecting or investigating for loss or safety; or
    2. Four (4) years experience as defined in (1); or
    3. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (1) and (2).

    Special Requirements:

    1. Possession of a valid New York State driver's license is required. Failure to maintain a NYS driver's license including driving privileges throughout employment will result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
    2. Obtain American Red Cross Basic First Aid Certification – within six (6) months of employment which must be kept current throughout employment. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
    3. Obtain Red Cross Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification or American Heart Association Course "C" CPR Certification , or acceptable equivalent certificate, AED for adults and children certificate. Certifications must be obtained within six (6) months of employment and must be current through employment. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
    4. Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses*

               IS-100.B: Introduction to Incident Command System
    IS-200.B: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
               ICS 300:     Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents
               ICS 400:     Advanced ICS for Command and General Staff
               IS-700.A:     National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) An Introduction
               IS-800.B:     National Response Framework, An Introduction is required

    *     NIMS courses must be completed within two (2) years of appointment. Failure  to obtain NIMS Certification will result in dismissal.       NIMS Certification will result in dismissal.
