    Position Announcement

    Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Office - Minnesota Legislature

    The Minnesota Legislative Budget Office (LBO) is seeking candidates to fill the Deputy Director Position. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. This position will lead LBO staff in the development of fiscal estimates of proposed legislation for the Minnesota Legislature and in supporting staff in researching and analyzing Minnesota tax expenditures.

    Duties of the Deputy Director include:

    • Leading LBO analysts in the coordination and oversight of the fiscal note process
    • Supervising LBO staff who provide professional and technical support to the Tax Expenditure Review Commission
    • Working with the Director to manage and develop staff and manage the operations of the Office

    The Legislative Budget Office will determine the starting salary based on the successful applicant's qualifications. The recruitment range for the position is $93,115 to $132,800.     Minimum Qualifications

    To be considered, a candidate must submit a cover letter and resume and have:

    • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree
    • Five years in a financial, economic, or statistical analysis environment or an advanced degree with three years of experience
    • High-level analytical skills necessary to lead detailed quantitative studies
    • Nonpartisan background and ability to act impartially, in a politically neutral manner

    Desired Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in public finance, economics, public policy, statistics, or related field
    • Experience providing lead direction on research and quantitative analysis projects
    • Technical skills to use software programs to conduct complicated analysis of tax data
    • Knowledge of public finance and state budget process
    • Experience of working with state or federal legislature
