The Role:
The Accounts Examiner, under the direct supervision of a lead auditor, will be conducting performance audits and other examinations of external and internal departmental programs, functions and activities.
In addition, the Accounts Examiner, will be involved in
- Reviewing grantee audit reports for compliance with state and federal single audit requirements;
- Reviewing department grant calculation forms for accuracy and compliance with state or federal requirements;
- Assisting in the resolution of audit issues with grantees;
- Assisting in conducting external financial audits of grantee reports filed by municipalities and non-profit organizations for the purpose of ensuring compliance with grant agreements, state statutes and federal laws, or other regulatory requirements;,
- Other related duties as required.
The mission of the Office of Internal Audit is to assist the State Board of Education and the State Department of Education's management in identifying, avoiding and, when necessary, mitigating risks.
