    Summary of Duties:

    This position serves both the WSU Vancouver IT department and WSU Vancouver campus. This position serves as the financial and personnel lead and point-of-contact for the IT department. In this role, this position is responsible for several accounting functions with an emphasis on procurement activities and transactions, involving purchases via procurement card, purchase orders, contracts, and expense reports. This position is also responsible for personnel actions and time-tracking and payroll-related activities for the IT department. Additionally, this position is responsible for departmental budget management for IT, involving multiple accounts and fund types. Budget management tasks include fiscal research, analysis, reporting, and planning.

    This position also serves a key role in campus financial planning and development of campus policies and practices. In this role, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining financial forecasts related to specific projects and programs. This work will begin with Vancouver IT, but similar tools will be implemented for other campus departments. This position will work collaboratively with others and may provide recommendations based on their position's work and analysis to inform decisions and shape fiscal policies and practices at multiple levels within the organization.

    This position requires broad expertise, strong communication skills, attention to detail and commitment to compliance.

     

    Required Qualifications:

    • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.
    • Proficient with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, or similar software. Demonstrated accounting or budgeting experience.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience using an ERP system, such as Workday, Banner, Sage, Concur or other similar systems to complete financial personnel actions.
    • Experience with financial management, or financial forecasting.
    • Experience with procurement or purchasing.
    • Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness.
    • Clear written and verbal communication.
    • Effective time management.
    • Able to work collaboratively and independently.
    • Able to research, interpret and apply policies.

    Essential Duties:

    • 40% Departmental and Campus IT Procurement
    • 40% Fiscal Management and Analysis
    • 15% IT Departmental Personnel and Payroll
    • 5% Other duties as assigned.

    Work Location and Schedule: Telework may be available during the first 6-months of employment at a maximum of one day per week. After this initial period, telework options will be reassessed based on the needs of the department.

     

    Monthly Salary: $3,619 to $4,842, Step A-M, Range R-43. Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
